Plans and approvals

Review proposed work and make deliberate approval decisions before execution continues.

Before you begin

Know the project outcome and the person responsible for the decision. Read the plan in its project context, not from a copied transcript.

Approval example

Compare a plan with the original request line by line. For a README-only task, a safe plan might identify the README section, make one edit, render or lint the Markdown, run the focused docs check, and inspect the final diff. A plan that also changes dependencies or application code exceeds that request.

When the plan is close but too broad, enter a specific Change request, for example:

Keep the change limited to README.md. Do not update package manifests or generated files. Run the existing documentation check after editing.

The app enables Request changes only after the change-request field contains a correction.

Procedure

  1. Open the pending plan from task detail, task activity, or the graph's Plan review action.
  2. Check the intended outcome, affected repository areas, dependency order, and named checks.
  3. Select Approve when the plan is safe and complete.
  4. If it needs a bounded correction, enter a Change request and select Request changes. Use Terminate task when the work should not continue at all.
  5. Wait for the decision to be recorded before clicking another action, then return to the session.

Expected result

Approval records Plan review outcome — Approved, and a session waiting only on that decision can resume. A change request keeps implementation from proceeding on the rejected scope and starts a revised planning path. Termination stops the task rather than asking for another draft.

Permission guidance

Approval is an intentional project action. If you can view a plan but not approve it, ask the project owner rather than sharing an approval credential.

If approval is rejected

Symptom: execution remains paused after a decision. Likely cause: the decision is still being recorded, another input is pending, the revised plan is not ready, or the actor lacks approval permission. Safe recovery: refresh task activity once, look for the recorded Plan review outcome and newest Request, then ask the authorized reviewer if no approval control is available.
